My dad has had prostate problems as well.. no cancer.. just super enlarged. So he had it removed. Then it grew back So he had it removed Well today he got x-rays back for some kidney problems he's having. And guess what? He's got a prostate again.. So now he'll have to go under and get the thing removed AGAIN.. three times. He's getting on in life and I hate seeing him go under generals and then be laid up for weeks afterwards. To ligthen mood I shall tell a story about Prostates and Kerri-Anne Kennerly. She had 3 doctors/surgeons/experts on her afternoon show a few years back to discuss prostate cancer. One of her first questions to the three men sitting in front of her was: K: "So why don't woman get prostate cancer? " The men exchange looks.. silence.. K: "Woman do have prostates.... " Ahahaha. to funny.. she's so dumb she should have her own daytime morning show selling informercial products.. oh wait. On other news a good LJ post should include a photo, here's something I found on my recent search for "prostate" ![]() So I'm 12 years old? I had a giggle.. the page has some other intersting medical training devices too.. October 4th, 2007:
Babies: (boys can skip to the poker part) The whole baby thing is starting to sink a bit more now. I think I spent about a month depressed and afraid and not entirely happy about the whole affair. I've spent the last year or 2 undecided about having children. I think after reading a couple of books on babies/pregnancy etc, I'm a little less fearful of the unknown quantities of having a child. I guess the other fear is the change to my lifestyle and how I interact with Kerri etc. That'll just be something we both have to come to terms with. Even though I've shown a unfatherly lack of enthusiasm I know once I see this baby in the flesh I'm going to fall in love and devote my life to this child. I do this because a: I know I'm sentimental/loyal/family kind of person deep down and b: this is how it is for men. We don't go through the 9months of body changes and hormonal changes that woman do, there is no prebirth bonding etc. However I know to many other men who have had the same feelings I've had (FUCK!@#$!@") and as soon as they see their child, bang, their life changes. I'm certainly on the up and up about the whole affair.. it's getting more real the bigger Kerri's belly gets, the more tests we do etc. I'm probably even looking forward to it. .even if I do consider it a bit inconvenient ha-ha. Can't we just book a day and have it then??? Poker: Now onto poker (not poke-her which got me into the above situation) I played my first tournament at burswood casino last night. They have a monthly $50 buy in tournament, which is their cheapest, and I came in 5th out of 120 (~$400). I was pretty happy with that, I got a little lucky at the end and wasn't really in a position to win it. So I kinda of hung around and survived a couple of people to increase my payout. I usually play WAPL which is a league run in pubs that gets a smaller crowd. I do very well in those; but you don't get the pro's. There were definitely some more formidable opponents last night, as well as the usual crowd of donkeys... the low buy in obviously attracts them. Having dealers at the casino was awesome, the structure was longer meaning more hands per betting level and the dealers kept things moving really quick. I'm not considering playing some of their satellite events for their November $120k event. The buy in is $1100 but you can win a buy in via satellite tournament which awards seats to the main event instead of cash prizes. For instance if this one of those events last night, I would have gotten a seat. However if I do make it to that event, I wouldn't have the hugest expectation of winning, but it would be a great experience! September 22nd, 2007: Kerri's belly is rapidly approaching the size of mine! I had a busy weekend 13 weeks ago. Look what me and the missus made?? Figure if your not going to post much you may as well make it a good one? I have considered turning my lj into a poker blog since I've been doing pretty good around the local leagues :) March 19th, 2007: Sunny Beldon We have officially moved out of the toilet and into bogan town! 1km from the Craigie tavern who have a awesome bogan band on Fridays (35-40 yr old blokes doing heavy rock/metal covers). It all happened pretty quick, got the property Wednesday night, moved in Saturday, filled 1 removalist truck, 2 utes, 2 cars and my boat... handy having a brother in law who owes you a couple of moves and truck license! The background to our move is that our landlord is moving back from America to marry her American fiancé. This meant they (rudely) wanted to use their own house and we were forced to find a new home. It's no joke when people say the rental market sucks! particularly when you have a pet or three as in our case. We applied for 10 different houses over 3 weeks, all in the price range of 330-400$/week. 2-3 years that would probably have been less than a mortgage repayment but now a mortgage repayment on the same home would be 800-900$/week. The house managed to score is excellent, big back yard (dozen fruit trees!), big lawn area, nice entertaining area, shed, air con etc. They were trying to sell it with no luck so we when we applied we said we might want to buy the house in 12 months. Which is true, it'd be perfect for us, being a corner block I'd whack in a gate and park the boat in the backyard, have a veggie patch etc. (not to mention I am now in between all three north metro boat ramps) It's also my birthday today, for my birthday I got the privilege of moving house, and the pool table. Next time I'm going to listen to people when they say "pool tables and pianos get the professionals". 7 feet of slate ways a shitload! infact several shitloads. Now I have to get the internet on at the new house so I don't have to come to work to work! bummer :( Not alot else has really been happening.. probably playing to much poker, but doing ok. Decided to play the "pro" league this season in the WAPL. Have been in the money 4 times I think, including the paddo last week. Which was pretty annoying in the end as I was one of the chip leaders then got a serious of bad beats by the small stacks to eventually knock myself out.. Oh and my sister is having a baby right about this VERY minute.. which means my new Nephew will have the same birthday as me! February 18th, 2007: I'm alive! Random update time. Kerri and I celebrated our 1st year aniversary. First thing we decided is that there'd be no pressies/cards, just a nice meal and a night out. Works for me.. Went to the casino for food, drinks and gambling. I was keen to check out the hold'em tables to see how "good" the people looked. Most looked like the average players I meet every week at WAPL, so one day I'll give it a go I think. They also had a texas hold'em table game where it was you vs the dealer. Was kinda weird betting structure etc, but fun to play, wasn't a pure coin flip game, but not far from it. Sat down with $100 and left with $270 so was pretty happy. Paid for the meal and drinks. For some reason I decided to bring home my $100 chip, apparantly I was more drunk than I realised, because it's not much use to me now. Been a few years since my last bet at the casino so might be here for a while. Today we also picked up the new family member.. I present Sir Chivas Regal the Brittish Blue (there is a booze theme to our pets...) ![]() ( A couple more.. ) December 18th, 2006: Mandurah Lights Went down to Mandurah for the weekend and stayed at the Quest apartments on the canals.. took the boat down and moored it outside our room which was great. Meant we could zip out for some crabbing, get a icecream on the boardwalk and to check out the lights at the houses on the canals. Now I was a little skeptical about being amazed by these lights.. but I can say I was actually impressed. It wasn't just one or two houses with fantastic lights but probably 50% of the houses had some form of display with some just over the top. I'd estimate we were one of 200 boats putting around in the waterborn chaos.. houseboats and pontoons causing all sorts of chaos. I took some photo;s.. while driving the boat, so since the boat was moving, and I had to be wary not to run into another boat, and it was nighttime, most shots didn't come out to flash. nothing a tripod and some solid ground wouldn't have solved here is one image.. ![]() to see more head over to here October 16th, 2006:
The blue wren, much nicer than the restraunt by the same name. Least it was pretty average when I ate there last time I was in Denmark. Larger version and a couple of others below the cut. ( Read more... ) October 1st, 2006August 9th, 2006: A rare Update Back from eating and drinking our way thru another snow boarding trip to New Zealand. Was a great trip, starting to get the hang of Snowboarding, ventured onto quite a few blue runs and a couple of slow placed black runs. New Zealand is a great place to drive around, tho some of the mountains can be a bit intimidating in a piece of shit small car with little handling. Managed to visit a few LOTR sites this time, most aren't particularly recognisable. Probably the only scenery that is fairly obvious are the parts where they fight the Wargs, Aragorn falls of the cliff ( i re-filmed this on my little camera), and various other parts of Rohan. The Remarkable mountain range was used in various scenes, but there are so many mountains, it is hard to tell which is which. We scored on the hotel front, our 3.5 Star hotel over booked us and we were put into the Sofitel 5 star. You can tell the difference!! Considering the free breakfast was off a menu and included real coffee's (caps/flat whites etc), spa in the room which was nice after beating the body to death on the slopes, room made up twice a day, lcd tv to watch while in the spa! Problem with snowboarding holidays is it makes me want to get back there again. Not much snow near Perth tho :( Plenty of other stuff been happening too, I just can't think of what at this stage! oh going back on Jenny Craigs, slowly putting the weight back on. Put on 3-4 kgs in NZ!! June 27th, 2006: Burn Baby Burn Today, I burn the bandwagon of Soccer Love. I'm officially re-invoking the "Soccer is shit" status to my life. I never planned on following the world cup, but the love for my country and sport got me all caught up. To see the game come down to a couple of poor decisions just shitttsss me of. The umpiring seemed to be the major focus of half the games in the world cup.. the umpiring??? Considering teams are known to be able to "Take a good dive" shows the effect of the umpiring and working the umpire as a strategic part of the game. I think Australia did pretty good in the World cup regardless. I don't even really begrudge anyone for the loss last night, that is the nature of the game. Fact remains everytime Italy got near our goal they looked dangerous while with Australia I felt we had to wait for the lucky shot. Australia just lacked that final fire power. Anyway C'MON THE EAGLES!!!! June 20th, 2006: Not the one ring :( Might have been a while since I've actually posted a entry.. Alot has happened no doubt. Supa brief summary: Work Fun Eagles DHI work Kerri Boat Fun Work I always had this small hope that my wedding ring was actually "The One Ring", you know to rule them all... Which is a pretty naive and stupid thing to think as whilst wearing it I can't even rule over the cat, dog or wife, let alone the entire realm of BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaPPPPPP Kerri shat dacks thinking I'd killed myself, I lost it laughing, then so did she. The dog was howling cause of the Alarm going off and the cat had found the smallest hole to hide in she could find. Ok, so unplug heater FROM THE WALL, flick on fuse, power on, alarm off, animals settle down. Now, back to the wedding ring, flip heater over shake, rattle, shake, rattle plonk one Wedding ring. Now blackened and with two nice little melted spots where it shorted out the heater. Good news is, the heater still works. And the better news is Kerri found it as funny as I did, and we now think my wedding ring has some extra character. The blackened bits have mostly buffed off, and the melted bits can't really be repaired because it has gold weaving, but that is ok. ANyway, 4 months in and Marriage has almost already killed me! Mainly because this ISN'T the indestructable one ring.. March 29th, 2006: Blow damn it!! I need everyone to point north/northwest and blow.. really hard... At this stage cyclone Glenda is on a rendezvous with us at our holiday destination. I'm hoping a combined blowing effort might keep it off the coast of WA. According to the weatherman this morning it is the strongest of the season (cat 5/Katrina) and just short of the strongest in history. Which is fine since it hasnt' touched our coast, so lets hope it stays that way. Most likely if it hits anywhere it'll be Exmouth on Friday. We actually goto Coral bay on Friday which means we "should" be south of any really strong winds but it may drift southwards and give us a wild night. So glad we arent' camping :) I think if it is likely to actually hit that area we'd probably just delay a day or so.. not much point driving into a cyclone. My main concern is we get flooded OUT of Coral Bay.. I don't mind getting there and having the roads flooding and trapping us IN Coral Bay! March 16th, 2006:
STrange Why has my LJ suddenly decided to change the style of my friends/entries page? I liked the stock standard boring style, was easy to read, kept the full width of the page etc. This new one is thin, hard to read etc. I can't be fracked working out how to change it at the moment either. I spend all day looking at websites, html, server side scripts and sql queries for my business already. March 13th, 2006:
Why does 31 look and feel like such a older number than 30? I'm 31 on Sunday.. for some reason I suddenly feel old Perhaps it is because I'm married now? Married and 31!! I think it just hit me Or did it hit me when Kerri on Saturday said to me "babe, can you start putting the toilet seat down" To which I said "Sure, as soon as you start cooking me meals and doing the housework" hahahahaha just joking I actually just laughed and reminded her that she said to me she would never get annoyed at me leaving the seat up. Not sure why I posted this.. oh wait.. I've got work to do and I'm procrastinating March 9th, 2006: I just couldn't be more happy with this! Who wouldn't want to be Jack? Tho I still prefer to be Jack from 24 not Stargate.. oh well!
March 5th, 2006: The Hunter Kerri and I just had crayfish and Shark fillets for lunch...mmmm. The provider task of my husband duties were quite successful. We also spent a lovely morning out on the boat, is spectacular out there on the water. It is still hot, but there is a gentle southerly which is alot cooler than the easterly on the land at the moment. Owning a boat was well worth the wait! Would have been about 10 when I first started hassling my dad to buy one, 20 years later I finally got one. Dad still hates boats tho, isn't to keen to come aboard. March 2nd, 2006:
Figured I might just do an update. Kerri and I are both visiting the physio at the moment. It is kinda amusing that we are just back from a honeymoon and Kerri has a bad back. OF course it actually got hurt at the gym AFTER the honeymoon, and my shoulder has been a mess for ages. Still... since the Physio people were at the wedding and know we were just back from the honeymoon, they did raise an eyebrow over the injuries. My notebook decided to have a HD crash. Apparently it is going to take 5-7 days just to get someone to LOOK AT IT. Annoying, since it is on flexi rent the dude reckons they have to fix it yadda yadda. I asked if I could just get a HD and replace it, I'm happy with my self diagnosis of the problem. I cracked the shits at the tech support people but to no avail. So I'm back on the gaming machine to do work, luckily I had done 3 DVD's of backups before the wedding and had all other work backed on webservers since getting back. I am no longer mobile tho, which is REALLY annoying since I've been enjoying working at Kerri's office, she has a percolator and air conditioning (not to mention a sunny work disposition)!! Did I mention Jack Bauer is a legend? ok he is a fictional TV character but he is possible turning into my all time favorite fictional TV character. To top it off he is a horrible loyal die for his country American, I hate that about them too!!! Still, I just love how "good" he is at his job, and his resolve to kill everyone who gets in his way in a self righteous approach that would make a knight of the crusades look like a pansy. This outburst of Jack love is sponsored by emule and season 5 of 24. On pirating, and if you didn't know and haven't been to the movies recently <cue in music> <bang>DOWNLOADING <bang>PIRATED <bang>MOVIES <bang>IS <bang>STEALING Apparently Australia is the worst offenders of pirating TV series via downloads/illegal sales etc. I assume this is on a per capita scale. Perhaps if we could get TV series a bit earlier... 24 for instance is half way through season 5 in the US, while here I think I saw season 4 still on? I'm guessing here, but half the TV series I download do have sub titles in Spanish/French/Japanese. So I assume these shows are released in these countries far earlier than here if not simultaneously with the US, so why don't we get them? I'm willing to accept that there is a seasonal delay, i.e. rating seasons are at different times of the year, so there may be a few months delay, but why a year? oh and p.s. I wouldn't steal a car, or a handbag, and my telly is fucking bigger than anything I can carry, I'd maybe steal a mobile phone. But apparently I would steal a movie.. God I hate that ad!! February 25th, 2006: Broome Well, we got back from Broome last night, was a enjoyable stay up there. Mostly anyway, it did get a bit hot this time of year, very humid and all that, which limited some of the outdoor activities. Was so hot it actually started playing tricks with my mind.. I could have sworn I saw multiple Kerri's December 16th, 2005 |
